Sophie Calle’s phone booth

The "phone booth" is a piece of art created by Sophie Calle with the help of the architect Frank Gehry. It looks like a huge flower located in the middle of the Garigliano bridge and has been inaugurated in december 2006.

There is a telephone inside the "flower" and Sophie Calle is the the only person to know the number. She calls at least 5 times a week to chat with the person willing to pick up the phone.

A metal plate is fixed inside and indicates:

My name is Sophie Calle You are in my phone booth I am the only one who knows its number, I will dial it every now and then, at my leisure hoping to reach someone at the other end.

Unfortunately, the phone has been broken and is not functioning anymore. Therefore, the telephone will not ring, but this should not keep you from visiting this unusual piece of art.
